Apple UK job posting hints iPhone 5 as soon as mid-August

A job posting at UK recruiting site Reed hints that Apple may be queuing up an earlier launch for the next iPhone. Apple is asking for full-time iPhone sales workers in Newcastle Upon Tyne with experience who would provide demos at the store and otherwise help drive traffic. Staff would start August 16 after four full days of training in London and work through October 29.

The contractor, Gekko, would pay £75 ($121) per day. Apple is known to hire extra staff for iPhone launch events and often calls for an all-hands-on-deck release that pays bonuses for those who would otherwise have the time off.

Most leaks surrounding the next iPhone have it shipping in September and would make the start slightly early. Apple doesn't necessarily need to start temporary hires in sync with the launch and may want them on the floor ahead of time to give them experience. An August announcement could also require these workers to prepare the store and sell people on an upcoming iPhone so they line up or try for a pre-order.

Queuing staff through the end of October may also be a hint of anticipated demand. Apple has usually had demand for weeks or even months after an iPhone launch and might want to guarantee quick processing during those times when lineups and heavy floor traffic are the most common.
